In my vision as a designer and developer the wishes and dreams of the enduser are the focus during the design process. Products should be user-friendly in the first place, and also should have a clear and attractive design. I find it important that design serves wellbeing of society.

My traineeship 'Eerst de Klas' constituded of the following three parts;

- Teaching physics and Research & Design at two high schools (0,6 fte)

- Teachers' education at the Technical University (TULO), 

- Leadership program at prestigious Dutch companies; Shell and Attero (0,2 fte), see below

Researching the acceptation level of (applications of) recycled materials and offering concepts for new recycled products.

2012 - 2013

For Shell I did research on the designs of their educational products about Energy. This project results in a report including conclusions of the research and advises for improvements for the design.

 
Concept Designer, MvND, Eindhoven

2012 

As a participant of a design competition, organized by 'Ministerie van Nieuwe Dingen' (MvND), I designed a concept for an intelligent cocktailshaker. 

 

Product Researcher & Designer, Philips, Eindhoven

2010 - 2011

Conducting qualitative user tests (for three months) on the product interaction of a new device in order to decide on product criteria and characteristics and to come up with improved proposals. (Follow-up Research after my graduation project at Philips Research).

For my graduation project I have explored new concepts for products that would improve the falling asleep experience for people having problems falling asleep due to stress. Design phases; conducting elaborate research (context-mapping), generating ideas, designing 3 concept proposals, realizing working prototypes and evaluating the chosen one with users in the HomeLab of Philips Research.

The conference 'Edutopia' has been organized by my group of trainees 'Eerst de Klas'. I was part of the promotion team and I designed the logo, corporate identity, website www.edutopiaconferentie.nl, and promotional materials. At the conference day itself, I was the photographer. 

 

 

Exposing Photographs and 'Jut & Jullie'

Exposing Photo's 'Rusty Desert' in the hospital MCA in Alkmaar and in Magentha Zorg, Oudtburgh in Bergen and in the hotel 'Zeehuis' in Bergen aan Zee. 

Exposing the art collection 'Jut & Jullie' (made out of scrap from the beach) in the library and Maritime Museum in IJmuiden. 

 
Volunteer work in Guatemala

Working for 2 projects in Antigua: Assisting teachers with maths and creative courses at a primary school called ‘Los Patojos’ and helping disabled children in a hospital called ‘Hobre Sociales’. In Holland I presented the work in high schools and at the TU Delft.
